Portuguese universities promote narrative medicine

“It is a change of perspective, attitudes and practices that allow better communication between patients, family members and healthcare professionals, and finally between patients and their families.” Ultimately, the project also intends to develop narrative skills that will have a positive impact on functioning of the health teams.”

These are some of the objectives of the Grupo de Estudos e Reflexão em Medicina Narrativa (GERMEN), which will host a public presentation to promote narrative medicine in Portugal on Wednesday 28 February in the ANJE auditorium in Porto (National Association of Young Entrepreneurs). A project created in collaboration with the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP), the Instituto de Bioética da Católica Porto (IB-UCP) and the Universidade Fernando Pessoa (UFP).

Among the speakers of the meeting were Maria Giulia Marini, director of the Healthcare and Well-being area of ​​the ISTUD Foundation and representative of the Italian Society of Narrative Medicine.

Matteo Nunner

Graduated in Literature at the University of Eastern Piedmont, he's now studying anthropological and ethnological science at the University of Milano-Bicocca. Journalist and writer, he collaborated with many local newspapers and in the 2015 he published his first book "Qui non arriva la pioggia". In the 2017 published "Il peccato armeno, ovvero la binarietà del male".
